incase you haven't already discovered it....menupages.com is the BEST site to find ALLLL the restaurants in new york from booshie upscale exclusive spots to the tiny ghetto ass holes in the wall. it's the number 1 resource to dining in nyc. all listings have contact numbers, addresses, reviews and most importantly....MENUS!
so when having moved to LA...i find that most ppl use yelp...which isn't all THAT usefull. so i came up with the idea of doing a menupages for LA! GENIUS right? umm...not so much. after discussing it with a friend....he said the first thing i have to do is research for competition to see what is out there right now. low and behold...the first thing i find that's related to menupages.com is "losangeles.menupages.com" as it turns out....i'm not a genius. great marge...there goes that idea.

but keep in mind...losangeles menupages isn't HALF as extensive as the new york one is...there were some restaurants off the top of my head i searched for that came up with no results... tsk tsk.

my brand new 2008 mini cooper s. so perfect and beautiful.
i'm so in love. as everyone says driving is a bitch here...it's still pretty fun for me. I can deal with it for now...i actually get excited when i get to drive my car. ppl give it a year at most though...before i get sick of it. I dont doubt them...but i'm enjoying it...while the "enjoyment" lasts.

i just hope i don't regret moving over here. I'll give la it 2-4 years ...then i'm def heading back to new york. i'm sooooo not a cali girl. ppl here are too damn chill....meaning SLOWWWW. it takes me 15 mins to get my coffee in the morning...just in line!!! the starbucks on 4th ave and 8th in cooper square in the morning is a f*king machine....i'm always in and out in the matter of seconds. ok...slight exaggeration...but common...you and i both know that new yorkers are just always on the go....time is money people!

well..enough bitching....at least i got myself a sweet ride....right? =)

me moving to LA

so my last sunny sunday afternoon in new york...(for a while at least) my buddy jelsen, another fellow friend Rodney and myself decided to get an early start to the day and went to see an exhitbit at the oh so beautiful Guggenheim. It was my first time there (this day was full of firsts...and lasts...for that matter) ....unfortunately it was still under construction so I still haven't had a chance to see it at full aesthetic capacity. booooo.
anyway....the exhibit was amazing. i would highly recommend it.



after it was such a beautiful day that we decided to walk through the park where i experienced my first and last "nuts4nuts" i never knew they were sooo damn delicious! if i had known...i would've bought them every time i had a chance!

this awesome band was playing at the park...it was the first time i actually bought a cd from random performers. (which actually turned out to be a mistake....things are never the same when it's not live)

after walking what seemed like 15 gazillion miles. we finally picked a spot for bunch.





it was the perfect end to a perfect sunday afternoon. couldn't have asked for anything more from my last sunday.

cheap shots!

so i've decided to move to LA....and i'm leaving New York for an indefinite amount of time. i originally was gonna leave for Hong Kong...but i know for SURE at some point...i'm gonna wanna move back over here. I mean....how could i not?! it's New York!! I just feel like i want to try something new for a change. Not to mention...at the risk of sounding stupid and cheesy it'd be nice to see where an actual relationship with my high school sweetheart could take me or rather ..us. we some what recently re-kindled the old flame. but not to worry..i'm not entirely moving for him...i DID manage to score an awesome job...with a 33% salery raise...WHATTTT!? ANYWAY, as a result...i put in my 2 weeks at my current job...which came to an end last night. So my wonderful co-workers were nice enough to throw me a little farewell party and take me out. We went to some dive bar type of place that goes by the name of CHEAP SHOTS! Places like this....dont exactly exsist in LA. LA is too clean....us new yorkers like to get down and dirty.

they even got air hockey!!  whattt?? yeh man. 

check out all the graffiti on the walls! common....you ain't EVER gonna see that shit in Cali.

Oh...and the ppl aren't kidding when they say CHEAP shots. those pitchers are $7 a pop! And if it's your birthday...you drink all night for FREE...really.

 

It was a great time...good times good times. I def felt the love....cheap shots is on 1st ave bet 9th and st. marks. go! 

i think now that i'm actually leaving new york...i'm going to realise all the things that made me fall in love with it in the first place. you can't beat LA weather...but damn new york? you can't even begin to compare...there's no place like it. it's definitely going to be missed.... A LOT. Dont get me wrong..i'm suuuper excited to move...i'm just saying...i still love new york....i just need a break... a girl's bound to cheat if she's not getting what she wants.

...my weekend saver

last weekend started off as kind of a downer. not only was it cold, wet and slushy...but because of it..very few ppl actually managed to show up to a little birthday soiree i TRIED to throw.
just as i thought i was the biggest loser in the world my boy decides that he would fly in from across the country to surprise me. and surprise me he did. he saved me from a potentially extremely shitty weekend.
i guess this entry here would be my tribute to him.
so now ... you must meet my boy justin. whom i love =)

At "STAND" burger joint on E12th St between University and 5th ave...incase you ever wanna go for late night burgers...a nice chill place to go. All the boys had burgers....i couldn't do it....had a deliciously fattening milkshake instead. *tee hee hee*

Oh! thanks to all those who actually DID show up....i love you guys too. sorry i was so drunk. ; )

...the poor man's lunch

So...i just got back about a week a go from my vacation. And as a result i am brooooooke.
But if there is one thing that you should know about the chinese, is that everything they produce is CHEAP! Whenever I'm broke...i turn to MY PEEPS in China town...and the wonderful ppl of DELUXE MART.

It's a little bit of a trek but ooooohhhh is it worth it. It's basically a super market but there's this little buffet type thing with ready made food up front. It's $3.50 for a rice box in which you can choose 3 sides to go with it.

Now...common...where in New York City can you get a full meal for 3.50. That's THREE DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS!!!!
OH! and that's not it....They give you sooo much food that it's good enough to last you 3 full meals! 2 if you're really hungry. That makes it at most a $1.75 per meal....TAX FREE!

And just to add the cherry on top... these buns are the BOMB...port and vegetable buns (FYI: in chinese it's "choi yuk bao") ... only 70 cents each! Now lets face it... you can't be that...it's the poor man's lunch.
Deluxe Mart is located on Elizabeth between Hester and Grand. If you smell fish...you're close.

...how busy i really am

For some reason these past couple of days at work have been super super slow. I literally haven't done ANYTHING...zero/ zilch/ zip. NOTHING. It seems so stupid to actually have to come to work when all i do is ACT like i'm working. I could be doing so many other more important things with my time like...sleeping. But instead i sit at my desk and try to LOOK busy while i discreetly surf the web to keep myself entertained.

I just open up some random files...normally the most recent stuff i've worked on, have a couple of finder windows and other useful "work" apps open and just scroll through them whenever i think one of the big dogs are behind me, while i stategically place the other more "entertaining" windows in a place where ppl who are looking at my screen from afar can't see.

In this particular case, i have gmail, blogger and facebook hiding behind an InDesign file that i'm "working so hard" on.
So anyway, my buddy jelsen and his lovely fiance b...who has just recently started their blog has inspired me to start my own aswell....so enjoy...the many more to come.
